At the tender age of three, Nirva sketched her very first piece: an inspired patchwork boot. Since then, she has pursued to cultivate her passion and hone her technique -- to manifest her artistic abstractions in garments.
Born in Istanbul of Armenian descent, Nirva has always been surrounded and inspired by her diversely creative family. Nirva's love for luxury materials was inherited by her grandfather (a fabric store owner) and her mother who designed her own dresses and shoes with her seamstress, and her cobbler.
In 1983 she moved to Canada with her family before nestling in the Boston area in 1991. Nirva received her BFA in Fashion Design from the Massachusetts College of Art, and is a two-time recipient of the Fashion Award for Excellence. There, she developed her skills in design and all areas of visual art including photography, painting, and sculpture.
She has worked for numerous fashion houses in Boston and after completing college she moved to London for several years to further broaden her skills, designing for a high street label. Upon return to the Boston area, she launched her own line, and in 2011 was awarded Best Women's Designer by Boston Magazine. Having traveled to metropolitan and remote locations, Nirva draws inspirations from everything and everywhere: art, culture, the human form, architecture, dreams and nature.
